Dear CCPS Community,
Today the northern section of Calvert County experienced freezing rain. CCPS busses were already on the road when freezing rain began at 6:00 a.m. We asked bus drivers to make their first run to Northern High and Huntingtown High Schools. The busses remained at these two high schools approximately 45 minutes. Busses were subsequently late picking up students for later bus runs. We greatly regret the disruption in our travel to school.
The decision to close or delay schools is always difficult. The school system acts with input from other organizations and tries to act on the side of caution. The safety of our students is always our first priority. We apologize for any inconvenience and frustration you experienced this morning.
