Tori Bellucci, Calvert’s only 1st team selection, is a 4-year varsity starter at Huntingtown. She led the Hurricanes to three SMAC titles, four 3A South Regional Championships, and three State Final berths. In 2011, she scored the solo goal to win the state championship match. Her coach Jill Twetten said, “Tori is not only a top athlete but a top scholar as well. Tori has been a vital part of developing the soccer program at Huntingtown High School. We will miss her next year—on and off the field!” Tori is also the 2013 All-Calvert Co-Athlete of the Year.

Patuxent High football coach Steve Crounse, who coached his son Tyler and teammate Rafiq Douglas (All-Met Honorable Mention) all the way to a hard-fought loss in the 2A State Championship game, said, “I am very proud of both of these young men. They absolutely deserve the recognition as they were part of one of the best teams in school history and had integral roles in ensuring our success. They are fantastic football players and fantastic young men.” Tyler is also the 2013 SMAC Most Outstanding Player and 2013 All-Calvert Athlete of the Year.

Ryan Phelps led the Northern High soccer team to State Championship appearances in his freshman and senior years. According to coach John Rossi, “Ryan is an extremely gifted player who has great speed, agility, and an amazing shot. He was the top scorer this year on a team that earned Northern a school record of 18 wins. He will be missed next year.” Ryan’s other accomplishments include: SMAC Player of the Year (2013), 1st Team All-State (2013), and two-time All-Calvert Athlete of the Year (2012 & 2013).

Selection for All-Met teams is highly competitive. The All-Met region includes the District of Columbia; Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland; and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudon, and Prince William Counties, plus the cities of Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Manassas, and Manassas Park in Virginia. The high school sports staff of the Washington Post chooses All-Met athletes from nominations submitted by coaches and athletic directors.
