The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) has implemented new vaccination requirements for the 2014-2015 school year.
Beginning August 2014:
- All students entering Kindergarten are required to show proof of two Varicella (chicken pox) vaccinations.
- All students entering 7th grade are required to show proof of
- one tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis/whooping cough (Tdap) vaccination and
- one Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccination.
Failure to provide proof of vaccination can result in the student being excluded from school until the required records are provided.
Call your doctor today to make sure your child’s immunizations are current for the 2014-2015 school year. Most immunizations are covered under health insurance policies. Students without health insurance may call the Calvert County Health Department at 410-535-5400.
