Community and school system guest readers visited Windy Hill Elementary School on November 20, 2013 to celebrate American Education Week. Interim Superintendent Nancy V. Highsmith enjoyed seeing the students’ enthusiasm as they greeted the adults arriving to read to them. Library media specialist Theresa Remington said, "The best thing about this event was giving our students the opportunity to see role models from the community sharing their love of reading." Principal Kelley Adams echoed her sentiments: "The students were so excited to welcome guest readers into our building. They really enjoy hearing other members of the community read to them.
